The Great Wall of China runs from the east to the west in the north of China. It has a history of over two thousand years. People built several walls in the 7th century BC. Those were later joined together and

made bigger by Qin Shihuang. Later on, many dynasties repaired old walls and built new walls. The most well-known of the walls were built during the Ming dynasty.
The Great Wall is wide enough for about ten men to walk side by side. Horses can also run on it. The Great Wall is made of stones, bricks(砖), wood and other materials . There are huge stones on each side and on the highest part. There are tall watchtowers along the GreatWall. In the past, the soldiers kept watching the enemies in the watchtowers day and night. When the enemies came, they made fire there to tell each other.
Nowadays we don't use the Great Wall to keep the enemies away any more. It is one of the most famous places of interest in the world. Every year thousands of people come to visit it from all over the world. (停顿25秒）听力考试到此结束
