We are what we read
It is universally acknowledged that we need to read more books to acquaint ourselves with the latest developments, practices and opinions. While some people hold that the best way to acknowledge knowledge is practice. Only in this way, will we get more important messages from all around. From my perspective, books are extremely vital to all of us, and in my belief, we are what we read, but practice is also essential.
In books you can find not only gold but also gorgeous beauty. We can even say reading can bring us everything in a degree. It helps to broaden ours horizon,and motivate ours potential. In an age when people have become increasingly versatile, the importance of books can never be overemphasized. Only when we read books, newspapers and magazines about the new discoveries and approaches can we keep pace with the time.
There are mountains of books in the world, we are supposed to find the right book at the right time. Different books lead you into different worlds, then we know about it and benefit from it. As Francis Bacon said, histories make men wise; poets witty; the mathematics subtitle; natural philosophy deep; moral grave; logic and rhetoric able to contend. We are what we read, therefore, to make us better, we need to choose books which are fit us
appropriately.
Meanwhile, the significance of practice can’t be ignored. As is known to us, genuine knowledge comes from practice, which, in a way, is true to us. It is highly important that we should acquire knowledge with our own eyes and not through the eyes of others. In a conclusion, we should apply the knowledge from books to the practice as it is the sole criterion of truth. When reading and practice work together, success will not be far away.
