W: Paul, when do you want to go? It’s 7:30 already. M: Be ready at ten to eight---We should leave home then. W: You booked a table for four at 8:15, didn’t you? M: Yes, and we mustn’t be late. Text2:

W: Could I have my book back when you’ve finished? M: Yes, of course. Sorry I forgot I still had it. W: It’s all right. Can you give it to me this weekend? M: No problem. I’ve nearly finished it. I’m on Chapter Fifty. Text3:

W: What a beautiful beach.

M: Yes, but we need to be careful. I would like to look at the information board beside the wooden house. Maybe we can find safety instructions. Text4:

M: Good afternoon, Madam. Is somebody taking care of you? W: No. I’d like a pair of ice skates for exercising at your club. Text5:

M: How are you these days, Penny?

W: Oh, fine. I’m now busy finding a part-time job to gain some experience for future job hunting. M: Really? I thought you were going to take part in the entrance exams for postgraduate. Text6:

W: Hello, Mr Black.

M: Hello, Anna. Could you please call the director and set up a meeting for Monday afternoon?

W: But you’re going to be out of town because of the marketing conference, remember? It would make more sense to set it up for Wednesday, after you get back.

M: You’re right. I will be free that morning. Why don’t you see if he’s available that day at 10:00 a.m.? W: Sure. I’ll call his secretary and let you know the result right away. M: That’s good. Text 7:

M: Hi, Maggie, I saw your painting in the end-of-year school art exhibition that all the parents went to. It was great.

W: Well, our art teacher seemed really pleased with it, but I’m not sure what the parents thought about it. M: Oh, don’t worry. I only heard them saying good things about it.

W: Hm, they probably didn’t notice that I hadn’t used the right colors. M: I don’t think anyone noticed.

W: No, but I did. But it was too late to do anything about it. Well, next time I’ll do something better, hopefully. Text 8

W: You’ve packed so many clothes, Ben!

M: Well, it is business trip, and the weather will be different everywhere I go. W: I suppose on Sunday you’ll travel in your jeans.

M: Yes. Then on Monday I’m going to meet the company boss, so I’ll need my suit then. I can’t wear jeans.

W: What is happening on Tuesday?

M: I’m visiting a factory in the south, so I’ve packed these grey trousers. They’re light and I won’t need a jacket. It’ll be 35 degrees.

W: Oh! Then you’re in the mountains on Wednesday.

M: Yes. A jacket won’t be warm enough. I’ve got my coat for that day. W: Are you taking a sweater as well?

M: There isn’t room in the suitcase. On Thursday I’ll be by the sea where we spent our honeymoon, so I’m taking my swim shorts. W: And what about Friday?

M: I’m having lunch with some colleagues. I’ll wear that blue short you bought me. Look, here it is, under the suit. W. Oh, good. Text 9

M: I really enjoyed the art lesson yesterday.

W: Me too, David. I liked going into the city to draw different places. Is this your picture of the museum? M: Yes. I almost spent two hours drawing the museum. What do you think of it? W: Well, it looks nice, especially the color. M: Thanks. What did you draw?

W: I couldn’t decide between the castle and the market. In the end, I did a drawing of people buying vegetables. Do you know what Luke drew?

M: Yes. I met him in a café after the lesson. His picture was of some people in the park having a picnic. W: I know. Mary loves drawing water. Did she go to the river?

M: She went to the sports centre and drew some children having a swimming lesson. What about Patrick? W: We are walking to the market together but then he saw someone cleaning windows in the bank and stopped to draw that.

M: Cristina is the best artist. I saw her in Bridge Street sitting at a table having a drink. She was drawing a waiter talking to a customer. The picture looked really good. W: What a great art lesson. Text 10.

M: Welcome to What’s On--- the entertainment program that tells you what’s going on in our area. Let’s start with the film festival that’s on next Saturday and Sunday. You can buy weekend tickets in advance at the box office, or you can pay for each film separately. If you want to see two or more films though, paying for each film separately is expensive. There are no one-day tickets, I’m

afraid. The festival is organized by a local film club and its theme is not “ Wildlife Protection” as we were told but “ Animals in Films”. There will be twelve films shown in total. I don’t have a list of the final twelve at the moment and unluckily the website is experiencing technical problem, but I’m expecting the information to be e-mailed to me any minute, so please stay with the program.

One film they’re surely showing is The Jungle Book, about a boy growing up with animals. It’s not a film that will please everyone. But personally, I like the story very much and the special effects are brilliant. And you shouldn’t miss this one: The Fly. Seth Brundle is a gifted but rather mad scientist, who’s accidentally turned into a huge fly during an experiment. This is quite a scary film, so it will be on later than the others. One more film to mention is Wolves: A Legend Returns to Yellowstone. This is a documentary about the life of wolves in Yellowstone National Park in America. The wonderful shots are taken from helicopters as well as fixed cameras on the ground, which are unmanned. So they can get much better shots. Now let’s move on…
