When we are unfamiliar with something, we may feel nervous and

fearful. The help of others is a good way to make us pull through.

I write for a big newspaper, and I want to write a story about parachute(降落伞)jumping. To make it a realistic as well as exciting story, I decided that I first had to make a jump myself. Unfortunately,I am not good at any sport of any kind, let alone parachute jumping.

My friend Mr.Smith was willing to give me a hand.He took me to a ground school. The first day?s training included several hours of instruction but not my first drop from a plane. For this,I had to wait until the following morning.

The next morning, after a hurried and anxious breakfast, I was taken to the airfield. There, two heavy parachutes were put on my back. Then I was asked to make my way to a small plane which had just stopped slowly on the runway. Once on the plane, it was soon climbing. I began to feel nervous. As we reached one thousand meters, Harry, my teacher, hooked(钩) a line from my parachutes to a steer ring inside the plane. The line was to pull my parachutes open after I jumped.

“Get ready, Henry,”Harry said.I moved carefully to the door.I wanted to cry,“No, no,no!”but no word came. “Jump!”Harry called out loudly. “Jump!” To my surprise, kicking like a frog,I did jump.Away from the plane, and down, down I fell. It worked! The air seemed to hold me up. I was very happy.

Then I felt a quick pull.My parachutes opened.I was like the best surprise I?d ever had.I looked down. There were rivers, trees, fields and houses. I heard the soft sound of the air. This was fun!

When most people see a bug, they either need to kill it or avoid it at all costs. But why is this?

Should insects be considered part of the animal kingdom? They have a special purpose in the universe.Or should they be treated more like plants? Some may argue that unlike most animals, insects like mosquitoes can carry dangerous diseases.

Women may jump at the sight of a spider, and men will dislike the words ?tick? or ?flea?, and both can be worried about the cockroaches found in the bathroom. We mostly consider anything that creeps, or let alone has wings, to be terrible, maybe because in some way we connect insects with dirt and disease. Insects with wings, like moths, can scare us as they fly through the night.

But what about butterflies or fireflies? I remember catching fireflies in a jar as a kid and I loved doing it.And while the caterpillar has its mythology, we certainly love looking at butterflies. We like dogs and cats, but can?t we like insects? It may be that certain animals are like us. However, insects not only don?t look like us, but they have different behavioral patterns and life circles. And anything that stands out as different, we tend to fear and avoid it.

There are bloggers and groups that think differently toward insects, recognizing them as helpful to the ecosystem and possibly even to the future survival of humans.

So next time you see a bug, try not to kill it right away.
