Part Two Practical Writing----Understanding and Writing Faxes(25’) 1.The purpose is to teach the students to know the format of a fax and to write one. A fax is a very common means of communication in business and other fields of social life. A fax consists of three parts. The layout should be in the following order: 1)Receiver’s name, title, address, and fax number Sender’s name, title, address, and fax number Date Number of pages in the fax 2)Subject line and message 3)Closing phrase and signature 2. After reading and understanding the sample fax, do the exercises on pp120-121: 1) Write a fax according to the given information 2)Lay out the given information as a fax

3)Draw up a fax according to the information given in Chinese For keys, refer to the Teacher’s Book. Part Three Workbook Exercises(30’) I. Vocabulary Practice Exerceses1-6 pp71-74 II. Reading Practice Exerceses13-16 pp80-83 Part Four Unit 4 Section C Practical Writing----- Understanding and Writing Timetables/Schedules(23’) 1.The main purpose of this part is to help the students: 1) To be able to read and understand a train or fight timetable; and 2) To be able to write a schedule for a meeting, a visit or other business activities. Students are supposed to grasp the basic ways of writing a schedule, and in writing a schedule, we replace complete sentences with phrases (infinitive phrase or noun phrase or participial phrase) for brevity. 2. After reading and understanding the sample timetable and schedule, do the exercises on pp81-82: 1) Write an English schedule for Tom according to the information given in Chinese. 2) Fill in the table by using the given information For keys, refer to the Teacher’s Book. Part Five Assignment(2’) Review the key points Finish the exercises after class 10
