Warming-up (10’) Task 1 As a marketing assistant, Wang Ning may experience the following situations. Match each situation with its corresponding picture. Task2 The following things are what Wang Ning usually does for taking orders. Arrange them in the order of time and explain. ? a. show the product line to the client ? b. make an inquiry, offer and counter- offer ? c. make an appointment with the client ? d. sign the contract ? e. introduce his company to the client II. of one’s own 拥有:e.g. She has got a room of her own. on (one’s) own 靠自己的力量,独立地:e.g. He is now out of college and on his own. 2. subsidiary: a. a. less important than but related or supplementary to e.g. The question of finance is subsidiary to the question of whether the project will be approved. I’m taking History as a subsidiary subject. b. (of a company) controlled by a holding or parent company e.g. She’s working for an overseas subsidiary of the company. 3. original: a. existing from the beginning; first or earliest e.g. A second study was performed in 2003 to update the original report. 4. expand: v. to make or become larger or more extensive e.g. He expanded his short story into a novel. 5. unique: a. being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else; remarkable or unusual e.g. The beauty of the city consists in the unique style of its buildings. 6. integrate: v. to combine to form a whole; bring equal participation in an institution or body e.g. The school has been integrated with children of different races and social classes. 7. external: a. a. situated on or forming the outside; coming from another country or institution e.g. This medicine is used to treat external skin disease. This local newspaper doesn’t pay much attention to external affairs. b. happening or coming from outside a place, an organization, your particular situation, etc. e.g. A combination of internal and external factors caused the company to close down. 8. compromise: n. an agreement reached by each side making concessions; an intermediate state between conflicting opinions, reached by mutual concession e.g. I imagine we could work out a compromise. There is no room for compromise on this matter. v. to expediently accept standards that are lower than is desirable e.g. He says that he’s never compromised in his life. I wanted to go to Greece, and my wife wanted to go to Spain, so we compromised on Italy. 10. spot n. the place where something is happen Useful expression: on the spot: 当场,现场,在有压力的位置上 e.g. Luckily, a doctor happened to be on the spot when the old man collapsed. 11. complacent: a. pleased with a situation, especially something you have achieved e.g. We simply cannot afford to be complacent about the future of our car industry. 12. look forward to: to be excited and pleased about something that is going to happen e.g. We’re really looking forward to seeing you again. 13. cooperate: v. to work jointly towards the same end; comply with a request e.g. The British cooperated with the French in building the new plane.

教学过程(教学环节、要点、时间分配等) III. Intensive Reading(45’) Task 2 Read the passage and pick out the areas mentioned that the extrusion molds can be used in. Task 3 Read the passage again and fill in the blanks. Task 4 While introducing a mold company, what else do you think the customers may be interested in? Discuss with your classmates. V. Listening(13’) Task 1 Listen to the conversation and match the people with the correct information. Task 2 Listen to the conversation between Martin Jones and Wang Ning and fill in the blanks with what you hear. Task 3 Martin Jones has to attend an important conference next Monday morning and he calls Wang Ning to rearrange the time. Listen to the conversation and choose the best answer to each question. Task 4 Wang Ning meets Martin Jones at the airport. Listen to the conversation and answer the following questions. Task 5 Mr. Jones visits TA Mold and feels quite satisfied. Now he is sitting at the negotiating table and talking about the prices with Mr. Li. Listen to the conversation and complete the sentences with the information you hear.
