第二节:读后续写(满分15分)

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

Desiree was only four when she lost her Dad. She desperately wanted to talk to him one last time.

Rhonda froze as she heard her four-year-old daughter sobbing quietly in the room that morning in October 1993. The tiny child was hugging a photograph of her father, Ken. Rhonda watched as Desiree gently ran her fingers around her father’s face. “Daddy,” she said softly, “why won’t you come back?”

Instead of gradually adjusting to her father’s death, Desiree refused to accept it. “Daddy will be home soon,” she’d tell her mother. When she played with her toy telephone, she pretended she was chatting with him. “I miss you, Daddy,” she’d say. “When will you come back?”

November 8, 1993, would have been Ken’s 29th birthday. Rhonda decided to take Desiree to Ken’s grave(坟墓), hoping it would help her come to terms with his death. “How will I send Daddy a card for his birthday?” Desiree suddenly asked. “How about

tying a letter to a balloon,” Rhonda thought for a while and said, “and sending it up to heaven?” Desiree’s eyes immediately lit up.

Finally came the day. They arrived with bunches of flowers and a big silver balloon. Desiree’s eyes shone as they arranged flowers on Ken’s grave. Then Desiree dictated(口授) a letter to her dad. “Please tell him, ‘Happy birthday, I love you and miss you,’” she said softly. “‘I hope you get this and can write to me on my birthday.’”

Rhonda wrote the message and their address on a small piece of paper, which was then wrapped(包起来) in plastic and tied to the end of the string on the balloon. Then Desiree let the balloon go.

For almost an hour, they watched the shining spot grow smaller. “OK,” Rhonda said at last. “Time to go home.” Rhonda was beginning to walk slowly when she heard Desiree shout excitedly, “I saw Daddy reach down and take it!” The balloon, which could be seen just moments ago, had disappeared. “Now Dad’s going to write back to me,” Desiree declared as she walked toward the car. 注意:
