I.Analysis of the teaching material
1.The text is from Project English, Unit 4 Topic 3 Section C in Grade Nine. 2.It’s a reading text which learns more knowledge about Mars. There are some passive voice in it and it’s the grammar focus in this topic.
3.This period will improve the students’ abilities of using English. It can help the students study English better.
II. Teaching aims
1. Knowledge aims:
(1). Enable the students to master the new words: solar, diameter, storm, gravity, Roman and limit.
(2). Enable the students to master the phrases: name after, at a distance of, as ... as
(3). Review the passive voice with modal verbs. (4). Learn more knowledge about Mars. 2. Ability aims:
(1). Enable the students to master the passive voice with modal verbs more skillfully.
(2). Continue to improve the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially the reading skills.
(3). Enable the students to skim for the main idea of the passage and scan for the information needed. 3. Moral aims:
(1). To help the students in different levels to learn English.
(2). To foster students’ active attitude towards science and positively exploring the unknown fields of science.

III、Analysis of the students’ situation
Most of the students are interested in the Mars and the unknown fields of science, but they know little about it. They are lacking in reading skills and the gap of the students’ knowledge level in the class is wide. So I will help the students in different levels to learn English. Try to let every student learn something from this period.
