Are you a kind person？Do you like to be treated with kindness？Why should you be kind？What if I tell you that showing kindness is good for your heart，slows aging，improves relationships，brings great joy to your life，and is a lot easier than exercising or changing your diet?
Thirty years ago when I began my speaking career，an article on the benefits of kindness would have been dismissed as a“soft”topic.The hard questions would have been—How is being kind going to make our managers or sales team more efficient，creative and productive？How is being kind going to increase our bottom line？In the past，the value of kindness was largely overlooked.Now，advancements in neuroscience(神经科学)have shown how the mind functions and what moves us to action.So the questions are：What really motivates(激发)and satisfies us？What tools can be used to help reduce the ever－increasing pressure experienced by those who work in stressful conditions?
I’m glad to report with absolute certainty that“kindness”does have a major effect on health and productivity.All that is required is a fundamental change in our thinking.Research suggests that showing others kindness makes us happy，even happier than spending it on ourselves.Better yet，our kindness often creates a virtuous cycle(循环) that promotes lasting happiness and unselfishness.It’s not just that happier people are kinder，or kinder people are happier.Studies show

that performing a random act of kindness—even if we’re told by a researcher to do so—improves our level of happiness.
I am strongly suggesting that—given the constant connectivity(连接) of our“plugged in”society and great fear and uncertainty that exists in the world today—to teach people the basics of how to manage their minds，use their imagination and willingly accept soft problems，such as kindness，will have a positive effect on wellness and creativity.
